The Tale of the RackGenius Ranger
Out on the edge of the old frontier, back when steam trains were still learning how to outrun their own smoke and telegraph wires hung across empty plains, there was a legend folks whispered about.
Some said he was a pioneer.
Others swore he was an outlaw.
Most only knew him by one name.
The Cloud Bandit.
He didn't come to town lookin’ for gold. He didn't chase cattle or run with railmen. No, the Cloud Bandit roamed the frontier searching for something far more rare than nuggets in the California Gold Rush. He hunted for processors, memory chips, and any scrap of computing power the early world could spare.
Back then, nobody understood why. Folks thought he was mad, riding from town to town with empty saddlebags and a notebook full of strange diagrams. He would whisper under his breath about “virtual machines,” “dedicated cores,” and “the coming storm of the digital frontier.” Most people just shook their heads and gave him space.
The Cloud Bandit had a plan, bigger than anyone knew.
A Lone Rider With a Vision
Whenever the Bandit came into a new town, he did not hold up a bank or block the stagecoach. Instead, he robbed abandoned telegraph stations. He ripped open old workshop drawers. He sifted through mining camps and traded with railroad mechanics.
Folks said he could sniff out a processor like a prospector sniffed out gold.
While others sifted through the dirt, the Cloud Bandit dug through scraps. He collected every spark of power he could find. His horse carried more broken circuit boards than rifles. His saddlebags rattled with copper wire and cooling fans instead of coins.
He wasn't building weapons.
He was building the future.
A future he believed folks would one day need more than anything.
The Great RackGenius Roundup
Years passed. Towns grew. Steam turned to electricity. Wires carried more than messages. At long last, the Bandit returned.
This time, he didn't come quietly.
He rode back into the frontier with an entire jumble of power. Racks of it. Two to be exact. Enough to shake the dust off the canyon walls and light up the whole world from dusk to dawn.
Folks gathered on Main Street. They saw the racks of blinking lights behind him. They saw the badge on his chest and the sheriff's hat tilting forward on his shadowed dome.
The Cloud Bandit became the RackGenius Ranger.
The Ranger came bearing a message.
“Black Friday is upon us. Saddle up. I brought you the greatest deals this frontier has ever seen.”
He stepped off his horse, reached into his coat, and slapped down three wanted posters on the old saloon door.
Each one was stamped with the sheriff's seal of RackGenius.
